Its wise to change a few things from the default installation, the most common is that of the username and password which should never be left as the default on any system/software. To make changes you need to be able to SSH into your box in order to edit the configuration file /c/addons-config/Transmission/transmission-daemon/settings.json, and as per the instructions you must stop the Transmission client from the Frontview page before making these changes.

One of the nice things about running Transmission is that its very simple to access and manage your torrents from anywhere in the world, all you need to do is tell your router to do Port forwarding for the relevant port (default is 8181) to your ReadyNAS. This will vary greatly depending upon the router that you have so I can not possibly begin to describe all possible options as I only own one particular model of router. Instead read how to port forward and ensure that you are forwarding port 8181 to the IP address of your router (which will depend on your home network setup, but you should be able to check this from the list of attached devices in the configuration/setup page of your router). Once done you can access your Transmission WebUI from anywhere by pointing your browser at the IP address assigned by your ISP (e.g. ) and specifying the relevant port and path (i.e. :8181/transmission/web/).

For packet-oriented interfaces, the number of inbound packets that contained errors preventing them from being deliverable to a higher-layer protocol. For character-oriented or fixed-length interfaces, the number of inbound transmission units that contained errors preventing them from being deliverable to a higher-layer protocol. Discontinuities in the value of this counter can occur at re-initialization of the management system, and at other times as indicated by the value of ifCounterDiscontinuityTime.

Security options can be changed from the Netgear web interface, all other options can be changed via Transmission's own webGUI - but you need to stop transmission from Netgear web interface to make it save settings (it saves on program exit only, cannot force a save via its own web interface sadly.)

For some reason I cannot get ruTorrent to work with magnet links. The UI happily logs torrent was successfully passed to rTorrent but no torrent is added and no downloads are started. I cannot find any logs supplying an error message with more information. Please note that adding an old fashioned torrent file works well, only the magnet links does not work.

It takes a while for magnet links to find the torrent specification so the "real" download can start. The peers are found via trackers and/or DHT. If the trackers are down (or just take a long time to respond) or no peers are found, the torrent can't download the needed meta information to start.

After installing and setting up your server, you can test media playbacks right on your local server. If it is working ok, try downloading the client application to another device, log in using your account, and just playback from that device.

Streaming a file with Direct Play to a remote location puts little stress on the CPU but demands a fast upload/download bandwidth. DirectPlay is the best option if you have a high-speed Internet connection and fast clients.

But if you want to store media on-premises, you can also build your media collection and download from the Seedbox to your on-prem Plex server using secure file transfer services such as FTPS or SFTP.

You can also configure Radarr to automatically upgrade your existing files to a better quality. For example, if you have a low quality movie, Radarr can find the same movie when it is available in HD, and download it.

Sonarr is similar to Radarr but it keeps track of multiple RSS feeds of your favorite TV series and shows, and it downloads them automatically. It is also able to sort and rename them as required. You can also configure Sonarr to automatically upgrade your existing files to a better quality.

Another way to automatically download content to your Plex Media Server is using RSS directly via a torrent client such as ruTorrent. This client is the only one that can handle RSS feeds via the WebGUI. You can manually download torrents from RSS feeds or set up the client to download them automatically.

The feed will display the content as soon as it is uploaded. This also helps you get faster speeds because when a torrent is uploaded, it has few leechers or downloaders, which means you can have a faster download speed.

There are many torrent clients available to download torrents from the internet. Not all clients support RSS feeds, though. Some clients you can use for this purpose are μTorrent, qBittorrent, BitLord, Tixati, Ktorrent, Tribler, Vuze, Xunlei, Deluge, and BitTorrent 6.

RSS feed auto-downloading is a pretty useful feature. It helps you save the hassle of searching for a torrent on various websites and downloading each one individually. The automatic downloading feature will efficiently download your torrents in the background.

when you are running a torrent client directly on the machine you pick out your torrents clicking on the magnet link will most likely start the download immediately without having to copy that link. this kind of comfort was missing with the remote version of transmission.

Access points can still interfere with each other, even if there is enough distance. The WiFi channels are not absolute. While the transmission is on a certain channel, the signal bleeds to the neighbouring channels as well, albeit weaker. At high transmit power this weak signal will be strong enough to interfere.

If you drive an amplifier at full power the output will distort. This is easy to test with a car radio: turn it on full blast and try to make sense of the lyrics. A distorted signal is hard to decode and in WiFi parlance this means transmission errors and retransmissions, which will slow down the network. You can increase performance by lowering the transmit power.

1) No, reducing transmission power will not help low signal level.2) By adding more APs you can get a more uniform signal level.3) See #2.4) Definitely yes. Do not place the APs behind or between the pipes. Metal will block and reflect signals. Uniform reflections are not a problem, but a pipe array will cause scattering like a disco ball.

It makes sense for 1x15mW device connecting to an AP, but what if you have several mobile devices connecting to wifi simultaneously, would their combined transmission mW require the equivalent combined output from the wifi AP or does it not work that way?

Does it still true that mobiles and laptops nowadays still max at 15mW?If I turn down Tx power to 20%(which is lowest in mine) I see the bar indicator is reduced and the link speed is also reduced. Is this will suffer in my download/upload speed and latency? If i connect to wifi with poor strength (say 1 bar) will it cause more battery in using device? What about also speed? And if i increase Tx power, will I get more signal strength than previous caes (within range but poor signal strength)?

There is no generally accepted buzzword that you could easily google up. If you want a single word, then reciprocity would be my choice. WiFi is always bidirectional, each unicast frame has to be acknowledged. Therefore it is important to have a functional bidirectional connection. In practice much of the traffic is downloading, so the ACKs may be sent at a lower bitrate without affecting throughput, but that is splitting hairs.
